During Salone del Mobile, Lowe Living Co-Founders Emma and Tim Lowe visited the Molteni Palazzo and sat down with Nic Naes, Group Managing Director of Molteni&C, to discuss the evolving relationship between architecture, interiors and lifestyle. From the importance of integration in design to the role emotion plays in shaping modern homes, Nic shared his perspective on what defines exceptional living environments today.

Why is the partnership between Molteni&C and Lowe Living such a natural fit?

Nic: We share a similar philosophy. Both Molteni&C and Lowe Living believe that exceptional homes come from a holistic approach to design, where every detail is carefully considered. It’s about creating environments that feel effortless, timeless and tailored to the people who live in them.

Walking through the Molteni Palazzo, what was the first thing that struck you?

Nic: How calm everything felt. Every space flowed naturally into the next and nothing felt disconnected.

What separates good design from truly exceptional design?

Nic: The level of consideration. Exceptional design solves problems people don’t even realise they have.

Milan showcased some of the world’s best interiors. What common thread did you notice?

Nic: Integration. Architecture, furniture and lifestyle were being considered as one complete experience.

Why are people moving away from purely functional homes?

Nic: Because people want their homes to support how they feel, not just how they live. Emotion has become a key part of design.

What does Molteni&C do differently from most furniture brands?

Nic: We think beyond products. We’re designing systems and environments that contribute to a complete living experience.

What is one design principle from Milan that every homeowner can apply?

Nic: Consistency. When every element works together, a home feels effortless, calm and timeless.
