As consultant on the design of the exclusive wellness amenity at Jardin House, Lyndall Mitchell and her team have drawn inspiration from traditional European bathhouses to thoughtfully curate a private resident experience that enhances health, relaxation and overall wellbeing. The result is a sequence of eight distinct indoor spaces, moving from the hydrotherapy pool to cold plunge pool, salt room and foot spa, before then extending outward into the garden. More than a shared amenity, it is a wellness environment curated to feel genuinely personal; a place that earns its place in the rhythm of daily life.

Drawing on the neighbourhood’s beloved Edwardian, Art Deco and Victorian homes, the architecture reinterprets the familiar rhythms and textures of the streetscape into a distinctly contemporary form.

Arched apertures, textured render and brickwork parapets echo the character of the surrounding streets. Sandy brickwork in warm tones defines the podium, while complementary textured concrete shapes the upper levels, referencing the stippled render of Camberwell’s much-loved Californian Bungalows.

Monolithic and assured, the building is quietly sculptural. Layered landscaping envelops it in lush gardens that evolve with the seasons, softening its edges and reinforcing Camberwell’s celebrated leafy character.
