Marella Hampton design partner feature
Introducing Marella, a refined collection of thirty-two residences in the heart of Hampton, one of Bayside’s most sought-after locales, just moments from the golden sands of Hampton Beach and the vibrant Hampton Street village.
These residences are a private sanctuary of two- and three-bedroom apartments, developed and built by Lowe Living designed in collaboration with acclaimed architecture practice Cera Stribley and landscape architects Plume Studio.
Marella draws inspiration from Hampton’s legacy of coastal Californian bungalows, reinterpreted for contemporary living with bold, articulated forms and delicate materiality. “At Lowe Living, our deep understanding of our clients means we deliver homes that elevate every aspect of everyday life. Marella’s exceptional design and meticulous detail encapsulates Hampton luxury and Bayside style while fostering an authentic community,” says Tim Lowe, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Lowe Living.
Drawing inspiration from the Italian word mare, meaning ‘of the sea’, Marella honours its coastal setting. The architecture balances texture and warmth, with a harmonious façade of warm terracotta and soft cream brick anchored by burnished metal detailing, designed to age gracefully over time. Deep-set balconies and vertical columns create a sense of privacy and enclosure, while open-plan interiors are filled with natural light, featuring engineered timber flooring, floor-to-ceiling bronze-framed windows, and thoughtful joinery. Kitchens are centred around sculptural stone islands and premium Miele appliances, while spa-like primary ensuites provide a sanctuary for daily rituals.
“The architectural direction of Marella is deeply rooted in the character of Hampton – a suburb defined by its strong sense of community and abundant natural landscape,” says Chris Stribley, Co-Founder and Managing Principal of Cera Stribley. “By drawing on its distinctive architectural legacy, Marella pays homage to Hampton’s history while embracing a contemporary evolution of its defining style.”
Landscaping at Marella is designed to complement both the architecture and the coastal context. “The beautiful coastal context, sculptural building forms, and rich, tactile material palette are the key catalysts for the gardens at Marella,” says Heath Blair, Director of Plume Studio. Lush planting softens the façades, while courtyards, terraces, and private gardens create serene outdoor retreats. A hotel-style entrance, linear water garden, and cascading greenery guide residents from street to home, while communal lounges, alfresco dining areas, and light-filled gallery spaces foster connection and culture. Signature Collection penthouses extend this vision with private terraces, built-in spas, and panoramic bay and city views.
Moments from Marella, Hampton offers a lifestyle of both vibrancy and tranquillity. Hampton Street provides cafés, boutiques, and acclaimed dining, while the Bay Trail, local sailing clubs, and golf courses offer opportunities for recreation and wellness. Hampton Beach is just a short stroll away, completing a lifestyle defined by elegance, ease, and connection to place.
Marella is a rare opportunity to secure a home of enduring architectural quality in one of Melbourne’s most coveted coastal enclaves. Secure your place at Marella where timeless design, considered interiors, and thoughtfully crafted outdoor spaces combine to create a private sanctuary in the heart of Hampton.
