Rightsizing with intention
Lowe Living recently welcomed guests to our Marella, Hampton display suite for an insightful discussion on the opportunities that come from rightsizing with intention.
Featuring keynote speaker and bestselling author Bec Wilson, alongside Urbis Associate Director Harry Scott and Lowe Living Co-Founder and Managing Director Tim Lowe, the event explored how thoughtful planning can unlock greater freedom, confidence and fulfilment in the years ahead.

What is Rightsizing?
At its heart, rightsizing is about choosing a home that aligns with the way you want to live today and into the future. Rather than focusing on moving to a smaller or larger residence, the goal is to create a lifestyle that reflects your evolving priorities.
With people living longer and enjoying more active later years, life is increasingly defined by a series of transitions rather than a single milestone. This “new shape of life” calls for homes that support changing needs, offering greater wellbeing, connection and ease of living.
We asked our panelists the one piece of advice they would give to someone considering rightsizing:
Bec Wilson shared, “think of your home as more than an investment, it becomes fundamental to your health, community and the way you enjoy your spare time in the second half of life”.
Urbis Associate Director Harry Scott reflects “we often find the people who get the best result are those who plan ahead and rightsize on their own terms rather than waiting until it is a necessity”.
Lowe Living co-founder Tim Lowe says “one of the most important decisions when rightsizing is choosing the right developer. Take the time to understand the team behind the project, their track record and how they deliver their product, as this will shape your entire experience from purchase through to completion.”
Why consider rightsizing?
- Reduce the time and cost associated with maintaining a larger home.
- Unlock equity to support travel, family or retirement goals.
- Enjoy thoughtfully designed spaces and amenities that enhance everyday living.
- Pursue the lifestyle you value most.

Questions to ask yourself before downsizing
Before downsizing as yourself:
- Does it support my health?
- Does it support my lifestyle?
- Does it give me financial flexibility?
- Does it connect me with people?
- Will it suit me in 10 years?
Rightsizing with intention is ultimately about unlocking greater freedom, creating new possibilities and shaping your future on your own terms.
